Fixed points of quantum gravity in higher dimensions

We study quantum gravity in more than four dimensions by means of an exact functional flow. A non-trivial ultraviolet fixed point is found in the Einstein–Hilbert theory. It is shown that our results for the fixed point and universal scaling exponents are stable. If the fixed point persists in extended truncations, quantum gravity in the metric field is asymptotically safe. We indicate physical...

Fixed points of quantum gravity.

Euclidean quantum gravity is studied with renormalization group methods. Analytical results for a nontrivial ultraviolet fixed point are found for arbitrary dimensions and gauge fixing parameters in the Einstein-Hilbert truncation. Implications for quantum gravity in four dimensions are discussed.

Warped Phenomenology of Higher - Derivative Gravity ∗ †

We examine the phenomenological implications at colliders for the existence of higher-derivative gravity terms as extensions to the Randall-Sundrum model. Such terms are expected to arise on rather general grounds, e.g., from string theory. In 5-d, if we demand that the theory be unitary and ghost free, these new contributions to the bulk action are uniquely of the Gauss-Bonnet form. We demonst...

On fixed points of quantum gravity

We study the short distance behaviour of euclidean quantum gravity in the light of Weinberg’s asymptotic safety scenario. Implications of a non-trivial ultraviolet fixed point are reviewed. Based on an optimised renormalisation group, we provide analytical flow equations in the Einstein-Hilbert truncation. A non-trivial ultraviolet fixed point is found for arbitrary dimension. We discuss a bifu...

Gravity Duals of Lifshitz-like Fixed Points

We find candidate macroscopic gravity duals for scale-invariant but non-Lorentz invariant fixed points, which do not have particle number as a conserved quantity. We compute two-point correlation functions which exhibit novel behavior relative to their AdS counterparts, and find holographic renormalization group flows to conformal field theories. Our theories are characterized by a dynamical cr...
